Carlos was very thorough in investigating the cause of my stove problem. Apparently is a design flaw that has no true fix. And though the effect of the flaw can cause serious injury, according to company guidelines, there seems to be no regulatory standard to prevent or fix it. When using the oven, my glass stovetop can get as hot as the internal temp of the oven. A 400 degree stove top (no burners on) can easily cause 2nd and 3rd degree burns and melt plastics. And according to the manufacturer, that is completely normal. Go figure. Will be writing Maytag to voice my concern with that. Wasn’t aware of that little detail when I bought the stove. Wasn’t an issue with my prior one. Carlos did a great job!
