The technician misdiagnosed the problem and left zero notes for the follow-up crew. In fact, they had no idea that he had even looked at the problem and were stunned he failed to leave notes. As it turns out, he could have easily fixed the problem (loose connection) instead of leaving us without a working hood for several weeks. In addition, the new crew told us he had stripped a screw on the underside of the hood and they had great difficulty removing it.

Repairman did a good job. My reason for only giving 2 stars is because of the time it took to get this simple repair accomplished. When I called to order the repair I explained exactly what was broken and what needed to be repaired. In spite of that clear information the repairman showed up the first time with no parts. Second visit was canceled - no parts. Third visit occurred almost a week later. This for a simple repair that took perhaps 15 or 20 minutes to accomplish. No money changed hands because of extended warranty. Perhaps this explains the excessive time it took. It was extremely inconvenient for me to do without my dishwasher for what turned out to be an extended time interval.

The freezer light does not work unless we physically reach in and turn it on. I had mentioned that to the technician and he said the switches stick sometimes. Now it never goes on by itself when we open the drawer. Additionally I think the freezer still makes a noise when opened.

My new washer (3 month purchase - brand new from Best Buy) had to have the gear box and all the springs replaced. If it malfunctions again within the next couple of months - Maytag and Best Buy will be working on providing a Dealer Credit for a new "washer and dryer set."
